  1. How was David in school? Why was he not focused? David was frustrated and bored in school and David wasn't focused in school because he moved alot
  2. Where did David spend most of his time? David spent most of his time working to save up money
  3. Why did David think his father was in some kind of trouble? David would call a fire station and one fireman tried to put him off
  4. Who was Mr.. Tapley? Mr. Tapley was his English teacher
  5. How is his relationship with his father? his relationship with his dad has gone to almost nothing but David just wants to see him and to know that he is alright he wants him in his life.
  6. What do you think about his dad? How does David feel about his dad? i think his dad went threw alot and did not mean to be a father to David it was his wife that drew him crazy. David still loves his dad and wants him in his life.
  7. Describe his meeting with his father, what was I like? What did they talk about? He talked to his father and wished that he was around more and why didn't he call at least they talked about why he left the fire station and told him to get out of here and be better then his father was
  8. Can you relate to David and his father’s relationship? yes i can
  9. Why does dad say “ get out of here.”? he wants him to go out and explore the world and get out of the city before it to late
  10. What job did he get during summer of 1978? How was that? he got a job as a salesman and he kept his head above water somehow
  11. Who did he go to for advice? David went to his uncle lee's
  12. Where did David ride to get away? David would ride to duinsmoore and forget about being an adult
  13. What did David do after he finished high school? david listed in the U.S airforce
  14. Do you think that was a good choice to go? Why? i think it was a good choice for david because he did not know what to do after he finished high school
  15. Who did he hear from? How was their conversations? he heard from his mother and their conversation was his mother always wished for the best of him
  16. Do you think his mother was just toying with his emotions? i think his mother is a crack head and has been playing with his emotions
  17. Who has taken the place of David's mom? How does she treat him? Examples. Alice had become his new mother and she treated him like a son should be treated with love
  18. Do you think David will ever go back to Alice and Harold? Why? i think someday he will go back to show Harold how good he did in the air force

chapter 8 questions

1.David was treated differently because the other kids would eye him with suspicious, whenever he walked in a room they would flash him false smiles, and Big Larry brushed him off when he moved out.
2.Gordon visited David to tell him he had to pack his stuff because he was moving to another foster home. David was shocked and wonder if he had done something wrong.
3.The 2 ultimate rules were to never become attached and to never take someone’s home for granted.
4.Gordon couldn’t find a place for David to stay at.
5.Gordon would go to any foster home and ask the parents if they can take David on late notice.
6.David compares Gordon to a chameleon-personality.
7.David's new family was Joanne Nulls and Michael Nulls.
8.David’s new foster mom would treat David as a toy doll. She would insist in washing his hair and gave him two quarters for his allowance instead of $2.50.
9.He would spent most of his time wandering around the house he spend hours gazing at articles, then he would watch television, and then go to his room and color in his coloring book.
10.Joanne and Michael were having problems because Michael didn’t really want David in the house and Joanne found out that Michael was having an affair.
11.David has been in three homes so far.
12.The difference was that his new parents were black.
13.Gordon told him not to get near his mom and stay away from her.
14.Seven foster kids live with Vera.
15.The family environment was good and they like Jody because when ever he came home every body would compete for his attention.
16.Jody chuckled like Santa Claus and everyone compete for his attention when he was home.
17.David’s new friend is Carlos. Carlos is a shy Hispanic guy that speaks almost no English.
18.David runs into his brother Russell. He has bruises in his arms and his clothes is thin, he is skinny and his shoes old.
19.I think he is because Russell mentioned she drinks more and is worse than before.
20.David saw his mom behind Russell.
21.Jody was accused of statutory rape.
22.All the kids had to pack there stuff to go to another foster home or go to juvenile hall.
23.David ends up with the Alice Turnbough.
